An apparatus for and method of generating a useful electrical output within asystememploying a flame. A thermopile receives heat energy from the flame andgenerates electricalpower. This electrical power is converted to a higher voltage by a special lowvoltage DC-to-DCconverter which operates shortly after ignition. During steady state operationof the flame, asecond DC-to-DC converter produces a higher voltage output from the thermopileoutput.However. the second DC-to-DC converter provides both regulated and unregulatedoutputs, andregulates the input voltage to keep the valves in the ON state and achievesmaximum outputpower from the thermopile.
