Method and apparatus for determining optical parameters of a turbid medium, the method comprising providing a sample (1) of the medium, said sample exhibiting at least m optical parameters wherein m ≥ 2; providing illuminating light (2) onto said sample along an axis of incidence, said illuminating light producing light from the turbid medium; providing n measurements Y of light produced from said sample, said n measurements being composed on n1 measurements (3, 4) of spatially resolved diffused light at different spatial positions and n2 measurements (5, 6) of angularly resolved scattered light at different angular positions, wherein n=n1+n2 ≥ m, and n1 ≥ 1 and n2 ≥ 2, and deriving said m optical parameters X from said n measurements, a computer program for carrying out the method, and use of the optical parameters for the determination of one or more material parameters.
