The invention relates to a polypeptide implicated in cell adhesion and/or phagocytosis, having an amino acid sequence which shows at least 40% sequence identity with the amino acid sequence of Phgl as depicted in Fig 3A upper row. The invention furthermore relates to antibodies directed against the polypeptide, use of the polypeptide in treatment, peptides derived from the polypeptide and their use.
