The inventive compressed air preparation device is characterized in that after switching off the motor vehicle, the regeneration device (11) is controlled by the control unit (6) in a manner that enables the execution of at least one regeneration cycle. The inventive method is characterized by the following method steps: detecting the switching off of the vehicle, and circulating dry air through the air dryer (8).
