A method for removing lead from a plated article made of a lead-containing copper alloy, which includes a pre-treatment step (S1) of subjecting a work piece (50a) being made of a lead-containing copper alloy and having a cylindrical part (10) to a pre-treatment, a plating step (S2) of plating a nickel-chromium layer (20) on the exterior surface of the work piece (50a) after the pre-treatment step (S1), and a lead-removing step (S3) of removing lead from the interior surface of the cylindrical part (10) after the plating step (S2). The method can be employed for producing at a low cost a plated article made of a lead-containing copper alloy which exhibits a reduced amount of lead dissolving out from the interior surface of its cylindrical part into water and also has excellent appearance.
