A system and method for query and data analysis to assist decision making in the context of underwriting, marketing and presentation of financial products. In a particular embodiment, the system and methods of the invention to determine actual results and expected results of a long term care insurance according to data provided to the system. These data may in particular include contract management data, actuarial data, demographic data and data claims. Actual results for insurance policies, such as the amount of the premiums paid by the policyholder and the amount of compensation paid under the policy (as well as the expected costs associated with the settlement of claims in progress) can be cumulated as specified, calculated and displayed for the user. The expected results for insurance policies, such as the estimated amount of premiums to be paid by the subscriber and the estimated amount of compensation payable on fonts can also be accumulated, calculated and displayed. We can then compare actual results and expected results, including the calculation of the ratio between actual results and expected results.
