The invention relates to vesicles that are filled with a metal cluster suspension or an ionogenic metal activator and vesicles having metal clusters adhering to the outside thereof. The metal of the ionogenic metal activators or the metal clusters is selected from tin, the noble metals and the transition metals and the vesicles are provided with an outer membrane which is formed from an amphiphilous substance, whereby a double layer is preferably produced. The invention also relates to suspensions of said vesicles. The vesicles can be produced in different ways, according to methods that are optionally carried out under high pressure for instance. According to said methods, the starting mixture is sheared. Metal cluster suspensions that are encapsulated in vesicles can be produced by reducing already encapsulated ionic precursors.
