The invention relates to a method for the hydroformylation of ethylenically unsaturated compounds. According to said method, at least one complex of a metal of subgroup VIII with at least one ligand containing two triaryl groups, each triaryl group having a radical containing phosphor, arsenic or antimony and one aryl radical of the two triaryl groups being bonded to a non-aromatic 3- to 8-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic bridging group with a single bond, respectively; is used as the hydroformylation catalyst
