The present invention relates to a method for preparing chiral compounds by asymmetric ring opening reactions of epoxides, more particularly, to a method for preparing chiral compounds by means of asymmetric ring opening reactions of epoxides with nucleophiles in the presence of ionic liquids as solvents and chiral salen metallic catalysts. Such a method facilitates recovery and reuse of the expensive catalyst in which the catalyst maintains its activity and enantioselectivity, such that chiral compounds can be prepared in a economic manner.
