The invention relates to an inorganic membrane that comprises as the separating layer a layer from crystals that have molecular sieve properties, and to a method for producing such membranes and to their use. Membranes are used for various chemical or physical processes, such as for example separation processes. Frequently, polymer-based membranes are used. Said polymers are relatively unstable to solvents and high temperatures. The aim of the invention is therefore to provide a novel inorganic membrane. The inorganic membrane according to the invention is composed of inorganic components and is characterized by a high stability to acids and high temperatures. A permeable support material is treated with the components of a zeolith synthesis solution and/or with a synthesis solution for amorphous mixed metal oxides, silicalites, aluminum silicates or aluminum phosphates. A separating layer of a compound from the group of zeoliths, amorphous mixed metal oxides, silicalites, aluminum silicates or aluminum phosphates is synthesized onto the ceramic film in said support material. The inventive membrane can be used for the separation of substances, especially for gas separation.
