The invention concerns a forestry device for collecting logs and splitting them into fuelwood billets for heating, comprising, on a mobile chassis (1), a hydraulic power unit driven by a motor (3) and a grapple (7) arm (3), provided with jacks (6) capable of being actuated from the power unit, and integral with an upper frame (9). The invention is characterised in that it comprises, at the rear of the arm (5), a splitting apparatus (11) with a vertical mount (12) including a vertical splitting jack (13), having a rod (13a) extending downwards, a horizontal splitting tool (15), located beneath and spaced apart from the lower end of the rod (13a) of the jack (13), a device (16) for receiving and guiding the logs (8) to bring them into a vertical splitting position between the lower end of the rod (13a) of the jack (13) and the splitting tool (15) and a device for evacuating the split billets (8a) rearwards.
