The invention relates to an inspection method and an inspection assembly for determining the elastic properties of an overlapping connection under shear tension. The invention is suitable for, (but not limited to) overlapping riveted connections, in particular for the construction of superstructure shells of rail vehicles. The aim of the invention is to provide an inspection method and an inspection assembly for determining the elastic properties of an overlapping connection under shear tension, which are simple to use, cost-effective and at the same time achieve high quality results. According to the invention, the elastic properties of an overlapping connection under shear tension are determined as follows: at least two assembled parts, which overlap and are connected by means of at least two connections are subjected to a load that exerts a shear tension, for example a tensile or compressive stress, parallel to their overlapping surface and the relative displacement of at least two marks designated on the two assembled parts between their connection points is measured; the elastic properties are then calculated for an individual connection point from the force and displacement data thus obtained, said data only reflecting the deformation process in the connection points under shear tension.
