A compound of formula I(MO₃S)_m¹ - Q¹ - (CH₂ - (X¹) - (Y¹)_n¹)_o¹ whereinM represents a metal cation, quaternary N cation or H;Y1 is a sulfonic or carboxylic acid or salt thereof;Q1 represents a pigment moiety;X1 is an aromatic group, a cyclo-hetero aliphatic group with at least one 5 atom or 6 atom ring or a hetero aromatic group with at least one 6 atom ring and which is not a phthalimido group;m1 and n1 independently from each other represent an integer from 0 to 2.5; ando1 is an integer from 0.05 to 4, or a compound of formula II(MO₃S)_m² - Q² - (CH₂ - (X²) - (Y²)_n²)_o² wherein:    Q² represents a 6,13-dihydroquinacridone moiety of formula III: whereinA and D each independently represent a substituent selected from H, F, Cl, C1-C3alkyl and C1-C3alkoxyM represents a metal cation, quaternary N cation or H;Y1 is a sulfonic or carboxylic acid or salt thereof;X2 is an aromatic group, a cyclo-hetero aliphatic group with at least one 5 atom or 6 atom ring or a hetero aromatic group with at least one 5 or 6 atom ring and which is not a phthalimido group;m2 and n2 independently from each other represent an integer from zero to 2.5; ando2 is an integer from zero to 4 and a process for the preparation and use of such compounds.
