A hair-treatment composition comprises: (A) a polyalcohol which is liquid at 25 deg C and generates heat on dissolving in water (i.e. has negative dissolution enthalpy) and which is a polyethylene- or polypropylene-glycol or (di)glycerol (at least 70 wt.%); (B) a compound with quaternary ammonium function(s) (0.1-2.5 wt.%); (C) water (below 3 wt.%); and optionally (D) oil components; and (E) auxiliaries and additives.
