An antireflection film comprising a high-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.65 to 2.40 and a low-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.20 to 1.55; and another antireflection film having only a low-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1. 20 to 1.55. A first improvement resides in the high-refractive-index layer which comprises 5 to 65 vol.% of fine inorganic particles having an average particle diameter of 1 to 200 nm and 35 to 95 vol.% of a cross- linked anionic polymer. A second improvement resides in the low- refractive-index layer which comprises 50 to 95 wt.% of fine inorganic particles having an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 200 nm and 5 to 50 wt.% of a polymer and in which the fine inorganic particles are stacked in at least two stages so as to form microvoids among the fine particles.
