Recent progress in apoptosis study has revealed that it is not only a process to quietly eliminate excessive cells, but also plays important roles in immune regulation. In the present study, we investigated whether donor apoptotic cell can be used to induce transplant immune tolerance. Dexamethasone (Dex, 3mg/kg/day for 3 days) was injected intraperitoneally into adult Sprawn-Dowley (SD) rats. Splenocytes from those dex-treated rats were isolated and transfused into Wistar adult rats. One week later, Sprawn-Dowley liver were transplanted into the Wistar rats received dex-treated splenocytes. Dex treatment often induces
