PROCESS FOR PREPARING HEAT RESISTANT THERMOPLASTIC RESIN HAVING SUPERIOR WEATHERABILITY AND IMPACT RESISTANCE

PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing a heat-resistant thermoplastic resin excellent in heat-resistance, weather-resistance, impact-resistance, and processability by mixing a graft ABS polymer and a heat-resistant copolymer. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the steps of: a) preparing the graft ABS polymer by emulsion-polymerizing 40-70pts.wt. of a conjugated diene rubber latex having an average particle diameter of 2,600-5,000 angstrom, the gel content of 70-95%, and a swelling index of 12-30, 15-40pts.wt. of an aromatic vinyl compound, and 5-20pts.wt. of a vinyl cyan compound; b) preparing the heat-resistant copolymer by bulk-polymerizing 50-80pts.wt. of the aromatic vinyl compound and 20-50pts.wt. of the vinyl cyan compound; c) mixing the graft ABS polymer and the heat-resistant copolymer. The aromatic vinyl compound is selected from the group consisting of styrene, a-methyl styrene, o-ethyl styrene, p-ethyl styrene, and vinyl toluene. And the vinyl cyan compound is selected from the group consisting of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, and ethacrylonitrile.
