PURPOSE: A method for predicting roll force in steel plate rolling is provided to improve prediction accuracy of the roll force by predicting the roll force considering micro-structure and secure target strength of steel by controlling the micro-structure of the steel through accurate rolling reduction. CONSTITUTION: The method for predicting roll force in steel plate rolling comprises the steps of obtaining an MFS by the following mathematical expression 1: £Mathematical Expression 1| where MFS is mean flow stress, PMFS is precalculated mean flow stress, A0, A1, A2 and A3 are correlation coefficients, T is a rolling temperature, AVGS is average grain size, and fn is non-recrystallization fraction; and predicting a roll force by the following mathematical expression 2 using the obtained MFS: mathematical expression 2: RF=MFSx{(2w/root(3))root((RH))Q} where RF is roll force, W is a plate width, R is a roll radius, DH is an absolute rolling reduction(inlet thickness-outlet thickness), and Q is geometrical factor.
