A Recombinant Urushi Lacquer and a Process for preparing the same

PURPOSE: Provided are a recombinant urushi lacquer having improved functional properties, operability and economics and a process for preparing the same, which comprises separating natural urushi into its components, removing some of the components adversely affecting the functional properties of urushi lacquer and/or some components existed in the natural urushi in an excessive amount. CONSTITUTION: The process for separating the components of natural urushi, is characterized by adding a polar or nonpolar organic solvent to natural urushi and centrifuging thus obtained mixture to separate three layers: (a) a layer comprising urushiol; (b) a layer comprising water-insoluble glycoproteins and water soluble gums; and (c) a layer comprising water-soluble enzymes and gums.
