PURPOSE: A method for determining control gain for controlling acceleration in an intelligent cruise control system is provided to easily determine control gain, and to determine control gain capable of following speed and distance at the same time by determining control gain using the optimum control method. CONSTITUTION: A method for determining control gain for controlling acceleration in an intelligent cruise control system includes the steps of modelling an intelligent cruise control system using a mathematic formula, determining performance index, obtaining control gains using a linear quadratic regulator(LQR) method to minimize the performance index to the mathematic formula, and determining acceleration order using the obtained control gains.
