PURPOSE: A method for effectively removing nitrate-N and sulfate existed in spent brine generated during ion-exchange resin regeneration process, and a method for recycling the spent brine from which the nitrate-N and sulfate are removed as an ion-exchange resin regenerant are provided. CONSTITUTION: The method for treating spent brine of the ion-exchange resin comprises biological denitrification process of treating spent brine generated during regeneration of the ion-exchange process for removing nitrate-N using denitrified microorganisms; sulfate precipitation process of precipitation the spent brine into barium sulfate (BaSO4) by injecting barium chloride (BaCl2) into the spent brine passing through the denitrification process; coagulation process of coagulating and treating the sediment barium sulfate (BaSO4) produced in the precipitation process using FeCl3; a filtration process of passing supernatant of the spent brine passing the coagulation process through a sand filter column; and adsorption and removal process of adsorbing and removing organic matter existed in the spent brine by passing the spent brine passing the filtration process through a granular activated carbon column.
