PURPOSE: A method for realizing FDTS(Feedback Decision Tree Search)/DF(Decision Feedback) equalizer using absolute value operation is provided to reduce the number of gates for improving the speed of operation by the absolute value operation using adders, thereby reducing the size of a chip. CONSTITUTION: In a method for realizing FDTS/DF equalizer using absolute value operation, the equalizer including an A/D converter, a feed-forward filter(26a) receiving an output signal from the A/D converter directly, an adder(26b), a tree search unit(26c), and a feed-back filter(26d), deducts a signal output via the tree search and the feed-back filtering of an A/D converted and tree-forward filtered signal from the A/D converted and feed-forward filtered signal, and carries out the tree search for the deducted signal, wherein the tree search is carried out by the absolute value operation using the adder.
