PURPOSE: A current limiting method and apparatus is provided to supply current to the desired load and improve system stability by varying the output current of a DC-DC converter when the output current is higher than a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION: A current limiting apparatus comprises a foldback current protector arranged between a voltage controller and a pulse width modulation comparator. The foldback current protector includes a current detection circuit(11) for generating an electric potential by the current and outputting a current detection signal; a comparing circuit(12) having an end for receiving the current detection signal and the other end for receiving a reference current, and which compares electric potentials, and outputs a control signal when an over-current is detected from the current detection circuit; and a control circuit(13) for receiving output from the comparing circuit and controlling the current flowing at a DC-DC converter.
