PURPOSE: Ketone compounds in adsorption operations are tendency to cause polymerization, and resultant compounds may give adverse effect on activated carbon and activated carbon fiber adsorbent because the resultant compounds clog the micropores of adsorbents. Steam regeneration has been widely used for years in adsorption operations, however steam regeneration were reported that it is seldom effective alone in regenerating activated carbon and activated carbon fiber adsorbent contaminated by polymers derived from polymerization of ketone compounds. To resolve such problems, this system integrates steam regeneration process with solvent extraction process. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an adsorption tower(1) where a cartridge type AC/ACF filter(2) is installed; a steam generator(3) which generates hot steam to regenerate the AC/ACF filter; a pump(12) which emits hot steam at a specific pressure; a flow controller(10); a solvent extraction means(4) which extracts solvent to regenerate the AC/ACF filter; a pump(12) which controls the inflow pressure of the solvent; a pump(12) which recovers exhaust solvent from the adsorption tower; a cooler(5) which cools the exhaust solvent after recovering from the adsorption tower by the pump; a pump(12) which controls the outflow pressure of cooled solvent; a solvent separator(6) which separates regenerable solvent from wastewater; a solvent recovery means(7) which stores separated regenerable solvent; and a wastewater tank(8).
