New Bioactive Peptides with Angiotensin-1-Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Activity

The present invention relates to a novel bioactive peptide Leu-Gln-Trp derived from human alphas1 casein having an inhibitory activity of angiotensin-I-converting enzyme (ACE) and its use for the treatment of hypertension. Synthesis of Leu-Gln-Trp, the 168-170th peptide of alpha s1 casein, followed by reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) to analyze and quantify the ACE inhibitory activity of the peptide As a result, the peptide has an ACE inhibitory activity and has an excellent effect useful as a therapeutic agent for hypertension.
