METHOD FOR MEASURING TENSION OF BRIDGE CABLE BY USING DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTIC OF CABLE

PURPOSE: A method for measuring the tension of a bridge cable is provided to exactly measure the tension of the bridge cable and to reduce the errors between the actual tension with the measured tension by using a high natural frequency of the bridge cable. CONSTITUTION: A vibration acceleration based on a time of a bridge cable(2) is measured by an accelerometer. A signal of the measured vibration acceleration is amplified by an amplifier(4). The amplified signal of the measured vibration acceleration is isolated through a certain frequency by a low pass filter(5). The filtered signal is converted to a digital signal by an analog/digital converter(6). The digital signal is converted to a vibration acceleration signal based on a frequency through a fast Fourier transformer(8). A natural frequency of the cable is decided from a spectrum of the vibration acceleration signal based on the transformed frequency. The tension of the cable is decided based on the natural frequency and an effective length of the cable.
