The present invention relates to a method for preparing medium-sized porous silica, which can selectively separate and recover heavy metal ions in aqueous solution, has a very high adsorption capacity, and is bound to chelating ligands of thiols and amines. Dissolving the silamine in ethanol and then mixing with water to inject tetraethoxysilane while stirring; (B) after the tetraethoxysilane has been hydrated and polymerized, aminopropyltriethoxysilane and mercaptopropyl Adding trimethoxysilane and stirring for 20 hours or more; (C) drying the reaction mixture of step (B) at room temperature for at least 24 hours, and then removing residual surfactant and organosilane using ethanol as a solvent. And (D) to provide a manufacturing method comprising the step of drying the material from which the residual surfactant and the organosilane removed in step (C). The medium-porous silica adsorbent according to the present invention selectively removes heavy metal ions in the wastewater discharged from the plating process due to high selectivity to heavy metals, excellent stability, large removal capacity, fast adsorption rate and excellent mechanical properties. It can be useful for doing so.
