TECHNIQUE DETERMINING CONTENT OF UNBURNED CARBON IN FLY ASH OF HEATING PLANT AND DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: meter of residual content of coal or carbon fitted with clear measurement tube, preferably glass tube, is used according to proposed technique in device designed to determine content of unburned carbon in fly ash of heating plant by measurement of infrared radiation reflected from ash. Sample of ash taken from smoke flue of heating plant is fed through one end of measurement tube to precipitate inside it. On completion of measurement sample is blown outside or back into smoke flue. Content of unburned carbon is determined by direction of series of waves of infrared radiation emitted by sources towards each of at least two different sections on surface of sample of ash located in tube at certain distance from radiation sources. In this case reflected portion of waves returns to proper detectors of infrared radiation and relation between energies of corresponding interdependent series of waves emitted towards surface of sample of ash and reflected from it is measured. As result of this approach at least one measurement is taken on two different sections as minimum across two different sections of external surface of sample of ash bordering on internal side of measurement tube. After this results of measurements taken in such manner are compared and displayed in the form of reflection factors. Thanks to such approach there is provided simple, reliable, fast and easy technique for taking measurements and device for its implementation does not require use of dangerous microwave radiation.
