SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of monochlorosubstituted derivatives of adamantane and diamantane used in production of thermo- and chemostable polymers and as the parent raw used for synthesis of medicinal preparations and in the synthesis of other derivatives of adamantanoids (amines, alcohols, acids). Method is carried out by catalytic chlorination of adamantane and diamantane with carbon tetrachloride. The source of catalyst are manganese salts, for example: MnSO4,, Mn(C17H35CO2)2 (stearate), Mn(OAc)2, Mn(acac)3, MnCl2, activated with nitrile ligands CH3CN, CH3CH2CN,, PhCN, CH2(CN2)2. The mole ratio [Mn] : [RCN] : [adamantane or diamantane] : [CCl4] = (1:2) - (4:1000) + (1000:5000), respectively. The process is carried out at 200 C for 0.5-8 h.
