The housing structure has a housing under part open at the top, and includes the lower part of a transport facility. A housing upper part (5) open at the bottom encloses the upper half of the transport facility, which is fixed to the lower part. The transport facility has a holder (31) to hold a cassette and recording sheet, which is moved between insertion/ejection and recording positions. A mounting plate (8) is provided, which covers the front of the housing lower part, near to this part, to form a step with the cover plate (6) of the housing upper part (5). The mounting plate is provided with projections (9b) extending downwards. The height of the projections is the same as the height of the side plates (4) of the housing lower part. Fixing screws (68) are screwed through holes provided in a section of the baseplate (3) of the housing lower part in the projections, to fix the housing upper and lower parts to each other.
