Viaduct structure is widely used for the elevated lines in Shanghai Metro Light Rail System. There are two kinds of concrete viaduct, the box-shaped and U-shaped structure. In this work the structure-borne sound is predicted and measured for the two viaduct structures during train passage. Vehicle-track interaction due to a relative displacement excitation is simulated. The forces in the rail pads are calculated and used as excitation to the viaduct. Vibration response and sound emission of the viaduct are predicted and measured in-situ. Comparisons are made between the two viaduct structures. It is shown from prediction that the sound emission from the U-shaped viaduct is a bit higher than that from the box-shaped viaduct.
