A method for producing a porcelain, in particular high-strength porcelain and a ceramic insulator are specified. To produce the porcelain, calcined bauxite (B) is used instead of clay. By simultaneously adding clay (T) and kaolin (K), each with a proportion of more than 5 wt. The porcelain is particularly suitable for applications for mechanically stressed components of electrical insulation technology.
