Speech/data channel interruption detection method for ISDN telecommunications network connection uses signal inserted in speech pauses for allowing differentiation between latter and channel interruptions

The interruption detection method uses a signal, e.g. a tone signal or a bit pattern signal, supplied to the network for continuously or cyclically filling the speech pauses, allowing differentiation between a speech pause and a channel interruption, for identification and localisation of a channel interruption. An independent claim for a circuit for detection of an interruption in a speech/data channel in an ISDN telecommunications network connection is also included.
