Molded body is formed from light aggregates selected from expanded glass granules, expanded clay granules and/or thermally pre-expanded perlite sintered together. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a molded body comprising: placing thermally pre-expanded expanded glass, perlite or thermally pre-expanded expanded clay as granules with an expanding agent residual content of at least 0.1 wt.% in a mold; and heating to a temperature up to the temperature above the softening temperature of the granules to sinter the surface of the granules and removing from the mold.
