The procedure for storing and withdrawing loads in a storage rack entails transporting the load in the rack lane at the height level of a load located in the rack and then transferring the load between the lane and rack. The load is transferred from a transporting device to the rack without a change in height level. The load transferring is facilitated by rollers. An Independent claim is included for a transporting device(2) for use in a storage rack and has a number or rollers(26) by which the load(3) is movable at right angles to the direction of movement of the transporting device.
