The rail vehicle has a front running mechanism (1) and at least one further rear running mechanism (2). The vehicle superstructure is supported on the running mechanisms and devices for counteracting sway (1') are mounted between the running mechanisms and the superstructure. These devices impart a specific rigidity to sway to each running mechanism. The thus achieved rigidity to sway is less than that of the supports (2',2'') of the rear running mechanism. Each sway support (1',2',2'') comprises at least one rubber spring or one air spring or a steel spring or a combination of them. The springs are of the torsion type.
