The cleaning device has at least one application device (06, 07) to apply a cleaning fluid to the roll and at least one brush roll (03, 04), the surface of which can be at least partly brought into contact with the roll. While the roll is driven in only one direction, the brush rolls can be set to rotate in either direction as required.
