Galvanically-separated current sensor for circuit monitoring and control applications, includes inverted U-shaped conductors wound over toroidal core and soldered to conductor strips on PCB
A toroidal core (1) with a Hall element (3) at its air gap (2), is soldered to a PCB (7). The open ends of the inverted U-shaped conductors (6) wound around the core, are soldered to the conductor strips (8) on the PCB. A digital or analog signal processor on the PCB or Hall-element provides temperature compensation for the output of the Hall element depending on the ohmic offset voltage of the element, temperature coefficient and temperature-dependent amplification of the Hall element at 20 deg C, current to be measured and the supply current, circuit constant such as air gap length.
