A transmitter (8) has a sensor (3) connected to an encoder (5) for converting measured values, relating to a measurement signal, into data packet streams. A receiver receives the data packets, decodes (10) them and converts the received data packets into measurement information for output (12). The encoder (5) is designed so that a first and a second instantaneous measurement value can be derived from the measurement signal. Independent claims are included for a method of transmitting a measurement signal via a radio path, for a transmitter and for a receiver.
