A test control device (2) is temporarily connected to a bus structure (10) in a vehicle to identify the vehicle. Data are transferred from a central database computer (1) to the test control device. Each successively-mounted voltage supply component (13-15) connected to the bus structure is identified and the identification compared with the data by the test control device to determine if the correct component is mounted. The output signals of the components are also compared with set signals. An Independent claim is also included for a test control device.
