The retainer has a guide (4) for a safety belt, located in the backrest of a seat. The guide is formed as a separate deformable component. It has a mainly non-deformable support section (12) and a plastically deformable fastening (6). It also has a stop (9) to limit a max. permissible deformation, and a section with pre-determined crumple zones (8). The guide has a surface coating (10) to reduce friction resistance of the seat belt resting on it.
