The declutching mechanism comprises a ball screw (12) which has a pin (14) which has a first groove (22) on its peripheral surface (20). A nut (26) surrounding the pin has a second groove in its inner peripheral surface. The balls (40) partly penetrate the first and second grooves. The pin rotates around an axis (A) relative to the nut. The balls roll by rotating around the respective ball axis in the grooves. A drive mechanism (42) acting on the nut and pin acts on the friction clutch to cause it to rotate .
