An air-conditioning installation for a car has a circuit (14) that can be switched over from cooling to heating in which is provided a heat exchanger flowed through by the air to be conditioned. For the cooling operation, a cold-heat exchanger working as an evaporator is provided and for the heating operation, an additional heat exchanger acted upon by coolant. The additional heat exchanger (20) can be operated in the cooling operation also as an evaporator-working cold-heat exchanger. The cold-heat exchanger and the additional heat exchanger are joined together to a heat exchanger block. With low cooling power, the additional heat exchanger is without function.
