The assembly to condense a drawn sliver, at a drawing unit, has a suction channel (14) with a base body (26) and a sliding surface (18) and a strip reinforcement (27) on the body, to seal the suction slit (19) against false air. The suction system to condense a drawn sliver has a reinforcement for the suction channel as a steel spring clip, under tension. One free end (29) of the steel spring clip is secured to the body by at least one locking projection (30), or it is bonded to the body by an adhesive. The suction channel, and the reinforcement, extends over a number of spinning stations. The suction slit is a window opening (33,34) in the body and the reinforcement, which is of smaller dimensions in the reinforcement than in the body of the suction channel.
