The article of furniture has an electrical control (3) set in a desk (1) with a keyboard, screen and such like for the person to access on the front (4) of the appliance. The reverse side (7) of the appliance serves as access to the valuables kept in a secure cavity. The secure chamber is formed by the lifting wall (7,8) which is controlled from outside and joined to a cover-plate (2) which enlarges the desk-top.
