The crank rod has a crank shaft (23) with 2 end bearings (21,25) for reception of a crank pin and a cylinder bolt respectively. The end bearing for the crank pin is split into 2 bearing hoops (25a,25b), attached to the end of crank shaft via pivot bolts (24a,24b), for providing a transverse bore (26) with a separation plane (27) aligned with the axis of the crank shaft. Each of the bearing hoops is fully removable from the pivot bolt.
