The sorption reactor, to recover heat or cold from material flows of different energy contents, uses a metal/zeolite compound (2,1) as the adsorber in a pressure-sealed and welded aluminum container (7) giving thermal conductivity between the metal and the zeolite compound. The adsorber and an evaporator (9) are in thermal contact with the container wall, which has insulation (5) between the adsorber and evaporator. The wall structure gives a thermally controlled energy flow during an adsorption and desorption process. The adsorption capacity and the evaporator power and the required water volume match each other. The sorption reactor has a system pressure set by the steam. The system has a controlled exchange of the sorption agent between the adsorber and the evaporator.
