Conjugated diene polymers are hydrogenated in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst composition comprising: (A) bis(cyclopentadienyl) titanium compound(s); (B) monomeric, polymeric and/or cyclic silyl hydride and/or silazane; and (C) organoaluminum compound, organolithium compound, organozinc compound, lithium hydride and/or lithium alkyl oxide. Hydrogenation of conjugated diene polymers comprises hydrogenating the polymer in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst composition. The catalyst composition comprises: (A) titanium compound(s) of formula (a); (B) monomeric silyl hydride of formula (i), polymeric silyl hydride of formula (ii), cyclic silyl hydride of formula (iii) and/or silazane of formula (iv) or (v); and (C) organoaluminum compound, organomagnesium compound, organolithium compound, organozinc compound, lithium hydride and/or LiOR3. R1, R2 = halo, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryloxy, alkoxy or carbonyl; Cp asterisk = cyclopentadienyl of formula C5R5; R5 = H, alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; X1-X3 = H, halo, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryloxy, alkoxy, acyloxy or carboxylate; R, Ra-Rc = H, halo, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryloxy or alkoxy; n = -0 (for ii) and 2-5 (for (iii); and R3 = alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl.
