The steer-by-wire system has no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steered vehicle wheels, with an electric motor providing a steering resistance for the rotation of the steering wheel and a steering motor (LM) controlling the steering movement of the wheels. The steering motor is controlled by the detected rotation of the steering wheel and by the wheel resistance force provided by a torque sensor or from the steering motor current.
