Device for cooling anodes, especially copper anodes, comprises: a cooling sink with cooling liquid; a unit for inserting the anodes into the sink; a unit for removing from the sink; a unit (13) for collecting anode waste products (HS) produced during cooling and sinking by sedimentation in the cooling liquid; and a unit (16) for transporting the waste products from the sink. Preferred Features: The whole collecting unit with the waste products is transported from the sink using the transporting unit. The collecting unit is made from a flexible material and is formed as a mat.
